Server Rules

By creating an account or playing on Vaelor you agree to all the rules below, including the monitoring described in section 7. Not knowing a rule is not an excuse. The rules may change at any time; the date of the last change is at the end of the page. Questions go through the support ticket system on this website.

1. Names

Character names in any of these groups are removed, and the character may be punished:

  • Offensive: insulting, racist, sexual or drug-related names, or names that harass someone.
  • Advertising: names that promote brands, products or services, or that refer to trading for real money.
  • Political or religious opinions.
  • Invalid format: sentence fragments, meaningless strings of letters, confusing formatting.
  • Encouraging rule breaking: for example names like "Bot" or "Cheater".
  • False authority: names that suggest you belong to the staff or to the server system.

2. Conduct and statements

  • Offensive statements: insults, racism, discrimination, harassment, sexual or drug-related content. Threats against another player in real life, including threats to expose personal data, are treated as very serious and lead to a ban.
  • Spam: repeating the same or similar messages, or meaningless text.
  • Advertising: promoting other servers, brands or services, or buying and selling game items, coins or accounts for real money (see section 4).
  • Off-topic: public political or religious statements, or messages unrelated to the channel (Help is for questions, Trade for buying and selling, World chat for parties, guilds and quests). Using Help for complaints, rumors or inciting others against the staff is punished.
  • Personal data: publishing personal data of other people.
  • Encouraging rule breaking: statements that incentivize, advertise or suggest breaking these rules.
  • Blocking: using characters, alone or in group, to fully block protection zones, depots, stairs, doors or any passage so others cannot go through. In Rookgaard this is punished progressively.
  • Private shops: using several characters to open private shops in the same place.
  • Disruptive behavior: actions that harm the server or other players and are not listed here. A Game Master decides.

Normal in-game disputes (killing, hunting spots, luring) are part of the game and are usually not handled by the staff.

3. Cheating

  • Bots and automation: bots, macros, scripts, key or mouse repeaters, or any program or method that plays for you or makes your character act alone (making runes, walking routes, healing, attacking, looting, trading). Being AFK is not an excuse. If a Game Master or the system asks you to answer or act, you must do it.
  • Unofficial software and modified clients: only the official Vaelor client is allowed. Modified clients, injected code, memory or packet tools, and any tool that gives you information or actions the normal client does not are forbidden. Unofficial or modified clients are disconnected. The client updates itself when you open the game.
  • Multi-client: only one character per account online at a time, and only one game client per person. Using several computers, connections or people to control several characters at the same time is the same infraction. Sharing a network with someone else (family, LAN house) is fine, but staff may ask players to prove they are different people.
  • Virtual machines and emulated environments: forbidden.
  • Bug abuse: using game errors for advantage, duplicating items or gold, or moving goods between accounts to evade game rules. Report the bug through a ticket instead; exploiting it can lead to a permanent ban and removal of what was obtained.

4. Accounts and trading

  • You answer for your account. Whatever happens on it, including bots or tools used by someone you let play, is your responsibility. Do not share accounts or passwords. We do not refund losses caused by shared passwords, scams or negligence.
  • No real-money trade of items, coins or accounts. Selling or buying anything from the game for real money, PIX or any currency other than in-game gold and Vaelor coins is forbidden. Characters may only be sold through the Char Bazaar on this website; selling them outside it is an infraction.
  • Payments and coins: payments are donations that keep the server running and generate coins. Check the item and value before buying on the Store; mistaken purchases are not reversed.
  • Death reimbursements are only considered for technical failures of the server confirmed by logs. Lag or problems on your side do not count.

5. False information

  • Pretending to be part of the staff or claiming powers you do not have.
  • Spreading clearly false information about Vaelor or its staff, or asking for a boycott.
  • Giving false information on purpose in reports, tickets, complaints or bug reports.
  • Threatening or blackmailing staff members, openly or indirectly. Insisting on reversing a punishment already decided, or opening several tickets for the same purpose, is also punished.
  • Stealing accounts (malicious links, phishing) or trying to break into the server or its data.
  • Attacking, interrupting or damaging any Vaelor server or service.
  • Chargebacks or payments of fraudulent origin. The account is blocked.
  • Breaking applicable laws or the rights of third parties.

7. Monitoring

To keep the game fair, we monitor how the game is played and may record and review it. This includes your actions and movement in the game, trades, bank transfers and shop sales, technical identifiers of your computer and game client, information about whether your input comes from a real keyboard and mouse, and recordings of game sessions. A Game Master can watch what your game client receives; they cannot see your desktop or other programs. Recordings kept as evidence are not deleted. Every use of these tools by staff is logged. We do not publish how detection works.

8. Presence checks

At random moments, and especially while making runes, a window with a code to type (a captcha) may appear on your screen. You must answer it correctly in the time given. While it is open you cannot log out or close the game. Failing it, running out of time, or leaving the game in any way (closing it, losing connection, killing the program) counts as a failed check: you are removed from the game and sanctioned. Repeated failures lead to longer blocks and, eventually, permanent ban. Be present while you play.

9. Sanctions, decisions and appeals

  • Sanctions range from a warning or mute to temporary or permanent bans, removal of items or attributes, and deletion of the character or account. The staff chooses according to the seriousness of the infraction and your history, and may act without prior warning. Cheating can lead to the ban of every account involved.
  • Who decides: apart from the check in section 8, the automatic system does not ban anyone: it only raises a priority for a human to review the evidence.
  • Appeals: if you think a decision was wrong, open a ticket through the support ticket system on this website within 15 days of the decision, with your account number and character name.

10. Your data

We use the data described above only to keep the game fair and secure, and we do not share it. You can ask what we hold about your account, or ask for its deletion (except the evidence we must keep for a punishment or a dispute), through the support ticket system.
